Emirates ID & Medical
This service is a crucial step in the UAE residency visa process for individuals and their dependents. It is mandatory for all new residents and for those renewing their visas. The process involves two key components: the medical fitness test and the Emirates ID application, which includes biometric data collection.
The Medical Fitness Test
The medical test is a mandatory health screening to ensure that a resident is free from communicable diseases. The results are a prerequisite for obtaining or renewing a residency visa.
Key Features of the Medical Test:
- Purpose: To protect public health by screening for infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, Leprosy, and Tuberculosis (TB).
- Procedure: Typically includes a blood test and a chest X-ray. Some professions may require additional tests or vaccinations, such as food handlers, domestic workers, and beauty salon staff.
- Eligibility: Mandatory for all expatriates aged 18 and above. Children under 18 are usually exempt.
- Outcomes: A "fit" result is required for the visa application to proceed. Individuals who test positive for certain diseases may face visa denial or be subject to specific health protocols and treatment.
- Location: The test must be conducted at a government-approved medical fitness center.
The Emirates ID Application
The Emirates ID is a smart card and the official identification document for all UAE citizens and residents. It contains personal information, biometric data, and a digital certificate, serving as a key to access a wide range of government and private services.
Key Features of the Emirates ID Process:
- Application: The application is usually submitted through an accredited typing center or online via the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) website. This is often done in conjunction with the visa application.
- Biometrics: Applicants aged 15 and over are required to provide biometric data, which includes fingerprints and a facial photograph. This is typically done at a designated ICP service center.
- Usage: The Emirates ID is essential for daily life in the UAE, including opening a bank account, signing a tenancy contract, registering for utilities, and accessing healthcare services.
- Integration: The Emirates ID application is directly linked to the residency visa process. The card is issued after the residency visa is stamped in the passport.
The agency's role in this process is to provide end-to-end support, from scheduling appointments and preparing the required documentation to following up with government departments to ensure a smooth and efficient process for the client.
